About Troy Thomas

Troy Thomas, hailing from Kearney, MO, is a proud member of Angler’s Port Marine Pro Staff, embodying a passion for tournament fishing and a commitment to the angling community. Retired from the KCMO Police Department, Troy’s life is enriched by his experiences in law enforcement, as well as his close-knit family, including five grown children and six grandchildren, with the anticipation of welcoming one more on Christmas Day.

In the angling arena, Troy has made a notable mark in recent years. Fishing the Anglers in Action series for the past two years and the Joe Bass series for the last four, Troy has demonstrated his skills and dedication to the sport. Looking ahead, he is set to embark on a new chapter in his fishing journey, joining the Heartland Team Series and Heartland Elites in 2024.

Troy’s achievements include securing victory in a Joe Bass tournament at Truman in 2021, showcasing his prowess on the water. With a deep connection to the lakes, he considers Lake of the Ozarks and Truman as his fishing havens.

Troy’s journey into tournament fishing began in 2017 when he met his wife, Lisa, whose father, Bill Hall, played a pivotal role in sparking his interest in competitive angling. Running a 2022 Phoenix, model 919, Troy is proudly sponsored by Bojangles Baits, and he acknowledges the Hibdon’s as his biggest influence in the fishing world.

Fishing is not just a seasonal pursuit for Troy; it’s a year-round commitment. When not on the water, Troy enjoys the company of his three Australian shepherds, adding a touch of joy and companionship to his spare time.

With his passion for angling, dedication to family, law enforcement background, and a love for his four-legged companions, Troy Thomas is a valued member of the Angler’s Port Marine Pro Staff, making waves both on and off the tournament stage.
